My Philosophy
Healthier Minds for Better Nutrition
first and foremost, FOOD is MEDICINE and we should be nourishing our bodies with quality foods that are functional and associated with beneficial effects on health when consumed on a regular basis. My philosophy steams from one's belief in themselves and the ability to achieve wellness through a positive attitude and healthy relationship with food in order to thrive and facilitate longevity. Often times, we forget about the true power of food and take our health for granted. As a result, often times, food becomes the problem rather than the solution. We have to change our mindset before we can change our habits. I use "we" a lot because I once believed that cutting calories, skipping meals, eliminating food groups would result in sustainable weight loss. But, this approach is self sabotaging and becomes a cycle of yo-yo dieting, which promotes resentment, frustration, anxiety, stress, and depression. Sound familiar? Well, these roller coaster of emotions are all too common in our pursuit of the perfect body image and false sense of health. Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. So, my nutrition belief revolves around "healthy intelligence" and the fact that in order to begin a wellness journey one must be mentally healthy and adopt a realistic approach to overall wellness and not just weight loss. Once you start with an approach that is smart, simple, sensible, and sustainable, then the weight loss will follow!
My 4 wellness principles are
